John.4
[1] When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John, [2] (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,) [3] He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee. [4] And he must needs go through Samaria. [5] Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. [6] Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour. [7] There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink. [8] (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.) [9] Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. [10] Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

What must this woman have thought as our Lord spoke these words to her? We have a great, great benefit in having the New Testament and history to understand and know immediately what Jesus is speaking of. Sometimes we take that for granted but we have much more insight than the people of His time did. Thanks Lord for the study of your Holy Word.

This is another example of how our Jesus is here for everyone. It had to be tough to be in his all knowing presence,I know that I,like the Samariton woman, am amazed at his Grace.

When I read verses 4, 5 & 6, I get teary-eyed.
Applying this scripture to my own life... I see Jesus seeing a need to go by a little country church one Sunday morning in the mountains of rural North Carolina. A small white church sitting near a gravel road next to a cow pasture. A small congregation inside. Being weary from His journey, Jesus stops and knocks on the heart-strings of a young boy. A young boy who was a "samaritian", not knowing anything good. But Jesus came anyhow and revealed to this young boy that without Him, if he died that instant, he would be in hell. Jesus extended His open arms to a young boy in that small country church that morning, and without even feeling his feet touching the floor, he went forth and accepted the Living Water that was offered to him that morning, even though he was a miserable, lost sinner. Years have passed but that young boy has never been the same. Never will be.
Thank you Jesus.

I never tire of hearing about the Living water! The chapter only gets better though...
Thanks for sharing those words of testimony Brother Darrin!

I went thru a good chunk of my adult life without understanding what he meant by "living water". When the spirit touched my heart I got baptised and it made sense. I am just happy that the Lord accepted me into the fold even though I was older. I am glad my children were smarter than me and got it early. I know it is all part of His plan but I wish I could of been open to getting that drink much earlier in life.

This passage shows me that we are to accept all of God's children...Sin, Warts & all!!!!!! _ I know many times i did not feel comfortable in Church--I was not wearing the right clothes, did not know who to pray correctly or whatever!!! Jesus accpets us "just as we are!!!!"

If Christ did not love all of us, and separated out those who were "different" I'm afraid I'd be one of those on the other side, or rebelling against condemning those that were. God in His infinite wisdom sees no such distinctions and differences in His children, as my brothers have said allready . You can experience great joy in His mercy and wisdom. Charlie
